The Ladies

  • Chloé O'Connell Ngov, Matron of Honor. Chloé O'Connell Ngov
    Matron of Honor

Chloe and Karen have been friends since seventh grade at Hamden Hall. They enjoy eating ice cream as often as possible at Ashley's Ice Cream in Hamden, where they often spend hours at a time. Chloe is a kindergarten teacher in Branford, CT who married her sweetheart, Visna Ngov, in July of 2012.

  • Noelle Muro, Bridesmaid. Noelle Muro
    Bridesmaid

Noelle and Karen have also been friends since seventh grade at Hamden Hall. Although Noelle is currently working in a veterinary practice in Grafton, MA, time never seems to pass between the two friends - and the laughter supply is seemingly endless.

  • Rebecca Sela, Bridesmaid, sister of the bride. Rebecca Sela
    Bridesmaid

Rebecca and Karen have known each other since Karen's birth, and Rebecca has always been a patient and nurturing older sister. Rebecca earned her PhD in Statistics from NYU, and is now living in Powell, OH with her husband, Amitai Sela, and their six-year-old son, Jonah.

  • Valencia Engermann, Bridesmaid. Valencia Engermann
    Bridesmaid

Valencia lived up the street from Karen on Allene Drive in Hamden when they were kids. Remember back in the day, when kids could just show up at the house of a friend, ring the doorbell unannounced and end up hanging out for hours, or even days? Yeah, Valencia was that friend. Having served in the United States Air Force and earned her MBA, Valencia is now living in Phoenix, AZ, entirely too far from Allene Drive.

  • Sue Lavery Hilerio, Bridesmaid. Sue Lavery Hilerio
    Bridesmaid

Sue and her husband, Luis Hilerio, live upstairs from Dave's apartment in Bristol, CT. Naturally, the four of them have spent some great times together, eating drinking, and shooting the breeze. Sue is a real dynamo in local musical theatre, and she is currently training to be a yoga instructor.

  • Kelly Giblin, Junior Bridesmaid, niece of the groom. Kelly Giblin
    Junior Bridesmaid

Kelly is the eight-year-old daughter of Kim and George Giblin IV, Dave's oldest brother. She is currently in second grade in her hometown of Shrewsbury, PA, and she has been an extremely active and thoughtful participant in the planning of this wedding.

  • Emily Giblin, Flower Girl, niece of the groom. Emily Giblin
    Flower Girl

Emily is the three-and-a-half-year-old daughter of Lisa and Will Giblin. She enjoys Dora and spending time with her brother, Willie Giblin.

The Men

  • Luis Hilerio, Best Man, brother-like to groom. Luis Hilerio
    Best Man

Luis has always been part of the Giblin clan. Dave and he met as kids in grade school and progressed through the school system together. They shared the same classes and were both actively involved in the theater department in high school. Now, Luis and his wife, Sue, live above Dave in their multifamily house (although we can probably leave out the multi). Due back from his deployment to Afghanistan in late fall, Luis serves as a communications technician/expert in the US Air Force. He also has a keen eye for photography and a fun-loving personality for film and theater.

  • William Giblin, Groomsman, brother of the groom. Will Giblin
    Groomsman

Dave's next older brother, Will, lives in Meriden, CT, with his wife, Lisa, and their kids, Willie and Emily. Will and Dave were instrumental in renovating the cottage in which their parents now live. Needless to say, they have tackled many projects together. Will was the first brother to whom Dave introduced Karen, on their second date.

  • George Giblin, IV, Groomsman, brother of the groom. George Giblin
    Groomsman

Dave's oldest brother George recently earned his MBA and is working at Medifast in Owings Mills, MD. He lives in Shrewsberry, PA, with his wife, Kim, daughter, Kelly, and youngest brother Mark. George is also part of a top-notch band called Ivy Mike, where he holds down keyboards and vocals.

  • Jonathan Giblin, Groomsman and Organist Extraordinaire, brother of the groom. Jon Giblin
    Groomsman/Organist

Dave's next younger brother, Jon, spent much of his early adulthood with Dave at the University of Connecticut, where the two were always going halves on the most affordable rental units that surrounded Storrs. Jon went off to Cincinnati, OH, to do his grad degrees in organ performance, and is now director of music and organist at John-Wesley United Methodist Church in Hagerstown, MD.

  • Mark Giblin, Groomsman, brother of the groom. Mark Giblin
    Groomsman

The youngest of Dave's brothers, Mark, has been squeezing some sweet tunes out of his saxophone ever since high school. He joined the US Marine Corps to play sax in the band. Somewhere in there he learned some hardcore Marine stuff. He served in Afghanistan and Iraq and became an expert rifle marksman (that just sounds cool). He did 8 years, got out, started school, and still wails on his horn in the band Ivy Mike.

  • Adam Bergeron, Groomsman. Adam Bergeron
    Groomsman

Adam and Dave have been friends since their undergraduate studies at UConn. Thank goodness thermodynamics was so mind-blowing the first time they saw it! Otherwise they would have never spent as much time in their study group working out all the details of each homework. Adam and Dave were also teamed up for their senior design project. Adam works at DST Output, and lives in South Windsor, CT, with his wife, Ruth, and their son, Shane.

  • Willie Giblin, Ring Bearer, nephew of the groom. Willie Giblin
    Ring Bearer

Willie, who turned six in November, is Dave's only nephew. He lives in Meriden, CT, with his parents, Will and Lisa, and his little sister, Emily. Willie loves to play Nintendo Wii and has to be reminded from time to time that he can't beat Uncle Dave in Mario Kart (although he may have won last time).

  • Jonah Sela, Ring Bearer, nephew of the bride. Jonah Sela
    Ring Bearer

Jonah Sela, who turned six in September, is Karen's only nephew. He lives in Powell, OH, with his parents, Amitai and Rebecca Sela, where he is in first grade. Jonah is arguably the biggest Star Wars fan born this millennium.

The Parents

  • Carolyn Paul, Mother of the Bride. Carolyn Paul
    Mother of the Bride

Karen's mother, Carolyn Paul, retired from her work at Yale University in 2010, after having worked there since moving to New Haven in 1973. Now she spends her time tutoring elementary school students in reading at Ridge Hill school, from which both of her daughters graduated. She also enjoys crocheting stuffed animals, baking, and spending time with her husband of 39 years, Chuck.

  • Chuck Paul, Father of the Bride. Chuck Paul
    Father of the Bride

Karen's father, Chuck Paul, hasn't quite figured out how to retire. He came to New Haven in 1972 to pursue a degree from the Yale Divinity School, and he has stuck around ever since, working in a number of departments within the University, most recently in Human Resources. Outside of work, he takes part in a number of activities, particularly golf and tennis, as well as community theater with his wife, Carolyn, and their daughters.

  • Lee Giblin, Mother of the Groom. Lee Giblin
    Mother of the Groom

Dave's mother has always been a loving, supportive mother to him and his siblings. She lived most of her married life as a stay-at-home mom that never stayed at home (with 7 kids, it becomes more of a taxi service). Lee would always encourage her children to get involved in scouts, music, and church, and they have always been thankful for that. Even after almost 10 years of getting the kids out of the house, Lee still carries enough of everything and anything to make friends and family feel welcome at her home.

  • George Giblin, III, Father of the Groom. George Giblin, III
    Father of the Groom

A former administrator of nursing homes, George has recently found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow - i.e. retirement. Well, at least from that job. He has been enjoying his first summer off ever, to relax at his cottage on Cedar Lake in Wolcott, CT, and spend time with his family. George is also the organist and choir director at All Saints Episcopal Church, in Wolcott, where he has been known to compose music for the service.
